I strive to encourage people, through my painting, to open doors where they might want to explore. I bring fresh perspectives to the often unseen exciting reality of the created. I try to capture that which may escape us.
Arriving from Sweden as a child to Canada’s west coast--attracted to dramatic light, colour and shadow--I enjoy capturing deserts, seascapes, landscapes, flowers, closely-cropped vignettes—rich vibrant colours and bold strokes to invite the viewer into a journey of discovery.
Inspired by O’Keeffe, Hopper, Gavazzi, Degas and Caravaggio, I developed my own style at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; the Emily Carr Art & Design and Capilano Universities in Vancouver; in workshops with accomplished artists; and painting, painting, painting (Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000 hours).
