Statement

Emily Weiner is a painter and a writer based in New York City. She has exhibited her paintings in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and France, and has published art reviews and essays internationally in publications including Artforum, RES Art World/World Art (Turkey), Domus (Italy), Time Out New York, ARTnews, ARTslant, The Santiago Times (Chile), The Columbia University art journal MUSEO and The Visual Arts Journal. She received her BA from Barnard College in 2003 and her MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 2011, and has been an artist-in-residence at Camac Centre d'Art in France (2011) and The Banff Centre in Canada (2012). She is faculty at the School of Visual Arts, Visual Critical Studies Department, and is a visiting assistant professor of painting at Pratt Institute. She co-runs "The Willows," an exhibition series in Brooklyn Heights: www.thewillowsnyc.com.
