Portugese artist João Penalva has filled the Galerie Thomas Schulte's store front window with a handsome installation of dramatically lit stacked kitchen chairs. As I walked down Augustrasse last Tuesday I assumed the scrawled red paint on the entrance of Galerie Eigen + Art was just another anarchist tag line, a common sight in Berlin's gentrified neighbourhood of Mitte. When discussing art, I have always found the descriptive term "installation" to be annoyingly non-specific and over used.
