Renée Allem
Renée Allem is a South African born Fine Artist, who is an Abstract Expressionist Creating her works on a multitude of diverse surfaces. Her paintings have evolved in into large scaled works on canvas, masonite and contorted metal sheets, which are rich in texture and undulating paint. Her paintings are a playground for the imagination. Allem also creates three-dimensional Sculptures from a variety of metals, woods, and ceramics shaping them into innovative Abstract forms, which includes Sculptural Relief Art constructed from metal and wire selected from all over Africa.
Allem consistently exhibits her work with various national and international galleries. Her work is commissioned by Art Dealers, Designers, Collectors around the world and she also works on Corporate and Public Art Projects. This passion for the Arts has inspired her to teach others Art appreciation and to enhance the awareness of Art in the community through various projects and exhibitions. She recently created an Art Program for hospitalized children that is designed as therapy and to provide them with an Art education. Allem has been invited to exhibit her work at the 2009 Biennale Internazionale in Florence, Italy.
Allem's education includes studying for a Bachelor of Fine Art at Wits in South Africa. She majored in painting and graphic printmaking. A fascination for design led her to further studies in Fashion, Interior and Graphic Design.
