My work utilizes the use of repetition in order to convey the practices of everyday and the general cycle that I find myself in. A sense of familiarity with a rush of unfamiliarity; flood the viewer as they try to understand the space or object(s) they are encountering. The familiar drives the initial attraction to the work while the unfamiliar keeps the viewer engaged. These conflicting feelings are settled by a sense of nostalgia that allows the viewer to look on the scenario with compassion and understanding and a settling through life’s encounters with the familiar materials, such as yarn.
