My most recent work has become an exploration of my tedious tendencies in relation to the way I produce art. I am more engaged in the process of mixing paint with a palette knife than applying paint onto surfaces with a brush. As a result of these observations, I have begun a series of paintings that consist only of mixed oil paints consciously placed onto canvas or panel. The repetitive process of mixing and placing engages my hand while challenging my mind. I am now searching for balance within the square, while dealing with color, size, pattern, and texture. These paintings convey paint as paint, and their relatable qualities extend them beyond material and process.
