Wendelien van Oldenborgh was born in Rotterdam and attended Piet Zwart Art Academy in the same city for one year before enrolling at Goldsmiths College in London. After having lived in the UK, Germany and Belgium, she moved back to Rotterdam in 2004. Van Oldenborgh has exhibited her work at numerous international venues such as Tate Liverpool, Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven), MuHKA (Antwerpen), Generali Foundation Vienna, Kunsthalle Wien, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Forum Expanded Berlin, Witte de With (Rotterdam), and Heidelberg Kunstverein. She has participated in the biennials of Venice, Sao Paulo, Moscow, and Istanbul. In 2010 she won the Marian MacMahon Award and a year later the Hendrik Chabot Prize for Fine Arts. In 2014 she was awarded the Dr. A.H. Heineken Award for the Arts. At the moment she is in residency at the Deutsche Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) in Berlin.
