Carol A. Hoffman got her start at a very young age. She was strongly encouraged by a grade school teacher, who recognized her talent and interest in drawing and painting and nurtured it. Mainly a self-taught artist, she was always schetching or painting anything she could copy or lay her hands on. Her parents supported her in all endeavors, even supplying countless materials such as plywood, slate or cardboards for her canvases. She loved art all through high school and relished the repeated trips to the Detroit Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art. She had pieces entered in the Cleveland Museum of Art's Best of High School Show while in high school and at several local fairs and shows. Her first piece of art sold while in high school was to a gentleman named Noel Coward.
Down through the years, she studied with several local artists and instructors in the Toledo area, taking countless hours of watercolor, pencil, charcoal, acrylic and oil painting classes. She also attended the University of Toledo School of Art for several years towards an art history degree. She has exhibited many works of art through the years, including some with the Toledo Museum of Art, The Toledo Museum's School of Art at The University of Toledo, The 777 Foundation and at several local art shows. Many of her favorite pieces have ended up with friends and family members as birthday and holiday gifts.
Photography became a steady yet unprofessional hobby down through the years. She owned several cameras and took hundreds of photos of friends and family for fun and experience. From the very first Polaroids, through the Kodak and Fuji disposables, down through the most recent digitals, she has honed and perfected her art of picture-taking and digital-painting to create original works of art. She started her own art website by joining absolutearts.com and has been a member for the past three and a half years. She has exhibited in 2008 with the LACDA, Los Angeles Center for Digital Art; "Snap to Grid" show, in October 9th-November 1st, 2008., and most recently with Artslant.com and the LACDA Los Angeles Center for Digital Art: "Digital Art LA" Juried Competition, showing September 9th, - October 2nd, 2010, where she has been a 2010 Showcase Entry.
