Statement

Detroit artist. Lives and works in Middle Village, Queens, New York

The work is two and three dimensional painted spun web fabrics.  Spun webs were invented in Germany in the 1960s.  Used as an art material, they are permanent, moisture repellent and transparent.  Encaustic paint uses the same permanent pigments as oil paints but instead of being ground in oil, they are stirred into molten bees wax.  Light passes through the web without harming the wax.
