ARTIST STATEMENT
The process of painting is similar to having a serious conversation with someone you love. It is always unpredictable. I never quite know where a piece will lead. In this way, I allow each painting to tell its tale whether it be glorious or grim. This process may happen quickly or may require several days to unfold. Regardless of the development and outcome, I consistently initiate each piece by concentrating upon some aspect of the human figure. Then, the conversation begins and I get lost in this private dialogue for as long as it takes. I do make use of rudimentary design principles out of aesthetic necessity. However, as quickly as these principles are employed, they are as quickly dismissed. In the end, the results are a visual recording of this emotional exchange.
