Natascha Niederstrass works essentially with video, photography and installation. Her work questions the relationship we maintain with a reality which escapes us. She also attempts to stage the ambiguity of the signs and the cultural codes which we too often accept as reductive truths.
Natascha Niederstrass holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from York University in Toronto (2001) and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montréal (1997). She has exhibited her work in Canada and abroad in various solo and group exhibitions. She has presented a solo exhibition at Plein sud in Longueuil who awarded her the Plein sud grant in 2005. She took part in 2009, in Confluences at the Musée regional de Rimouski and the Maison de la culture Frontenac in the project titled De l’île à la mer curated by Bernard Lamarche. In 2010, she participated in the Off Manif d’Art 5 in Quebec entitled Accident. She has presented in 2014, her work titled Deconstruction of a tragedy at Galerie Trois Points in Montreal and shown her project L’affaire de Camden Town at Occurence – Espace d’Art et d’essai contemporains. Niederstrasss will be participating in the 6th edition of the benefit auction Venu-Sold organized by esse arts + opinions towards the end of the year 2014. An exhibition of her latest work is expected to be shown at Galerie Trois Points in 2015.
