Luis Valle

Biography

Luis Valle is a Nicaraguan born artist living in Miami Florida. Born April 16, 1977 in Managua. In 1979 his family left Nicaragua for the United States because of war and political instability in the country. He grew up in Miami where he received his primary and high school education.

Valle received his formal training from Florida State University in Tallahassee Florida where he received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in visual arts while taking courses in painting and metal fabrication. He later went on to receive a Masters in Arts Degree from New York University in New York, New York. Here he continued to develop his painting techniques while also creating works in video. Shortly after finishing school Valle was awarded an artist residency at BCAT (Brooklyn Cable Access Television) and the Rotunda Galleries multi-media labs. Here he created work, which was broadcasted on the BCAT Networks public access channel in Brooklyn and then later on MNN in Manhattan.

While in New York, Luis worked on a series of video artwork as well as the production for the independent film Razones Para el Exxxilio. In the past Luis has been very active in making artwork with kids serving as art teacher at Toussaint Louverture Elementary in Little Haiti and the Miami Childrens Museum. He worked with organizations such as Arto-conecto and Kids-art as well as a teaching artist for Arts for Learning Miami, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing quality art education to children throughout Miami-Dade County.

Currently Luis has been very active in creating murals and paintings around Miami. As well as his murals Luis does live body paintings using the female body as his living canvas. Luis believes that spirituality has been lost in the mix of commercialism and fashion in art. He strives to bring the essence of the soul to his artwork. He believes that humans are inherently spiritual beings who are here to realize the same goal. Which is the self realization of his or herself and destiny.
