I have been an artist since conception. My grandmother took my mother to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City as soon as she was pregnant . Grandma had the advanced belief that creative exposure was valuable at all times. I studied and showed at Carnegie Hall, Museum of Modern Art, Avery Fisher Hall,Museum of Natural History ,Met Opera House,Lever House. I was always given the chance for expression in every area of arts. I received early awards, citywide accolades, exhibitions, that continued after we moved from Bronx, New York to Rockland County and then on at Cornell University and RIsley College for the Arts. Later on I worked in Philadelphia for ARA Services, studied education and more business administration at Temple and U of Penn. and pursued fine arts part time at Philadelphia Art Academy. I was fortunate enough to be encouraged all along the way. SO, after my children were born, I took the time to write,to read, to do art and to care for them pretty much full time while we lived in Tokyo. I studied sumi - e. Taught English and ran print shows. Museum of Modern Art took me back (taught blind , sighted and foreign members) when I returned to New York City. I studied at New York University&Isabel O'Neill for Decorative Arts &worked at MOMA. I was told that I had a painterly ability that was rare. My supervisor encouraged me to exhibit in MOMA staff show; my mixed media work was put next to Robert Storr's. Agnes Gund said my style reminded her of Bacon. I was told that I had the "eye" for antique and jewelry appraisal as well as the gift for recognizing color and style. SO my Cornell B.S. in Human Development and Design and Environmental Studies was useful. I was given an exhibition back there ('97) in Ithaca, New York as one of their outstanding artist/b.s. alumnae. Later,I continued to work in the arts and to travel. I developed an eclectic style based on Cezanne,Gris, Knox Martin, Bill Scharf, Louise Bourgeoise, Matisse, DeKooning, Warhol, Picasso ,Miro,Titian,Tinteretto,Rembrandt,Valesquez,Ingres. I explored chroma, materials, plasticity, the relationship of landscape to portraiture, abstract to synthetic realism. I thought about doing installations, series, metaphors, repetitions , variations . Looked at Romare Bearden, Eva Hesse,James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Steve Martin, David Gatten, Antonin Artaud,Julien Beck. Almost anything else was inspired by working at Art Student's League or with studio mates. Jola Gora Witta, my NYC web designer and curator recognized, with Monique Goldstrom, my abilities to mix poetry, words, photography and drawing and painting and to make multimedia, as has been demonstrated in the last years and will continue with Sonic Self and upcoming show at Chelsea Museum.
