Artist's Statement
english
as a result of our involvement, the world has mainly evolved into something abstract.
It's existence has come forth through the sum of the past, the things that have taken place (the factual) and the things that haven't taken place (the fictional).
when looking around we see things which can be given names, together these things form a vocabulary that can be used to communicate ideas and experiences that normally can not be expressed using our verball language.
the genre of stil life paintings could be seen as an example, as all the elements in the painting form metaphors and therefor function as a language.
this system of (visual) language surrounds us and functions as a medium between the factual and the fictional.
as an artist I like to work with these systems of (visual) language, they allow me to create an abstract framework in which I can think and dream without obstacles.
this is a space in which all possible steps can be made without having to obey the laws of physics.
interesting things happen when multiple languages are recombined, basically my vocabulary can exist out of anything, however the choices I make underline my freedom as an artist in a world that is almost always the result of other peoples actions.
although I do sometimes quote other peoples actions and styles, as way of irony or personal fascination, I always strife to communicate that which is inside of me.
for it is the exchange of ideas and opinions that make this abstract world evolve further, thus making my work a necessity.

onze wereld, zoals wij haar hebben doen evolueren is grotendeels abstract, zij is tot stand gekomen uit het geheel van het verleden, namelijk datgene dat heeft plaatsgevonden (het reële) alsmede datgene dat niet heeft plaatsgevonden (het fictieve).
wanneer wij om ons heen kijken dan zien wij dingen die wij kunnen benoemen, al deze benoembare dingen vormen ten samen een vocabulaire die wij kunnen gebruiken om ideeën en ervaringen, die misschien niet in het verbale gecommuniceerd kunnen worden, met elkaar te delen.
een voorbeeld zou het stilleven genre kunnen zijn, waarin alle elementen metaforen zijn.
deze vorm van (visuele) taal omringt ons en fungeert als medium tussen het reële en het fictieve in.
als kunstenaar speel ik graag met deze vormen van (visuele) taal, zij stellen mij in staat om een abstract raamwerk neer te zetten waarin ik kan denken en dromen zonder belemmering.
een ruimte waarin alle mogelijke stappen genomen kunnen worden zonder afhankelijk te zijn van de natuurwetten.
door het recombineren van verschillende talen ontstaan er interessante mogelijkheden, mijn vocabulaire kan dus in feite uit alles bestaan maar duidt op eigen keuze, hiermee fungeert het als een metafoor voor vrije wil in een wereld waarin dat bijna altijd onderhevig is aan andermans acties.
alhoewel ik andermans acties wel soms uit ironische overweging of fascinatie citeer, streef ik er altijd voor om datgene dat in mij leeft te communiceren.
Immers is een wisselwerking van ideeën en meningen juist datgene dat onze abstracte wereld verder doet evolueren en mijn werk daarmee noodzakelijk maakt.
