“Water and People or Neonarcissism”.
2009, November 2-29, Moscow Museum of the Modern Arts,
Project presents five works which reflect key aspects of human interaction with the water element. The exhibition includes video installations and art objects, illustrating human-water interrelation: from embryos floating in the mother’s womb, to semi-effaced photograph by the Black sea, to seeing your own reflection in the aquarium wall as inherently poetic.
“Water and People, or Neonarcissism” is simultaneously an art, scientific, philosophical and acutely social project: there is a demonstration of a personal vision of how the cynical and aggressive “Generation X” was formed, to show how the emergence of digital photography lead to shifts in ethics, to reflect the loneliness and agitation of contemporary people searching for meaning in life.
The inspiration for this project came from scientific research showing that water is capable of reacting to outside force, as well as to store and transfer information and human emotions by changing its structure.
“Research by Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto with ice crystals forming from water that was previously exposed to music, images, and verbal discourse, showed that water can absorb, store and transfer human thoughts and emotions. Now Dr Emoto is convinced (and so am I) that we can heal the planet and ourselves by producing and cultivating positive love and gratitude “vibration”....

Visual artist, curator, creative director of Loft in The Red Zone
Generation X
Marika Maiorova Dadiani, or marikama, born in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, grew up in Moscow, Russia; graduated as a screenwriter from VGIK, Russian State Institute of Filmmaking; moved to NYC in the nineties, studied directing Film at Columbia University Graduate program; co-created a fashion label Dadiani-Salerno; created a fashion label DADO; designed and produced several lines of contemporary women’s clothing and accessories; worked on film and theatre costume productions; curates independent multimedia art show as a pup-up gallery LOFT IN THE RED ZONE; makes video and mixed media art; currently lives between Moscow and NY, preparing to create a “New Reality” research lab and multimedia art exhibition.
