Robin Longerbeam was born and raised in New York. Although primarily self taught, she attended the Art Student's League in Manhattan. In addition she has attended an eccelectic mix of art classes, exploring oil painting, water colors, jewlery making and welding. In her current work, influences from nature as well as man made objects come together from the past, present & future in new & surprising interactions. From her viewpoint, everything seems to be getting more complicated so we should return to nature and an organic life. Her painting is a reflection of this dynamic, using simple shapes and colors to create a rich and complex vision of the world. Her works are suffused with layers, textures, and subtle gradations of hue and form. Her hope is that the viewer will be pulled into a calmer, more rational and gentler world. Robin currently resides in Bend, Oregon with her husband, son, cats and dog..
