My artistic process is rooted in a childhood of exploration near the Black Hills of Washington State. As a young girl, I developed a keen appreciation for the forest. My body of work is often referential to the environment. Many of my sculptures and paintings encompass geological shapes, while others focus on the human form. I am interested in the cycle of life. Some of my pieces allude to things that are eroding and are on the precipice of rebirth. As an artist, I transform my childhood memories into aesthetically creative forms. I pick out elements of Nature that I have a visceral reaction to. I recreate these natural forms into something that I envision them to be, my moments.
My art is held in private collections around the world and has been exhibited throughout the United States, and at the St. James Centre and Orangery Arboretum in England.
A professor of art, I have taught at Olympic College, Pierce College, and Washington State University.
