Born in the port town of Haifa, Israel, Ananda began her life on the sunny shores of the Mediterranean. Her fascination with oil paint and the mystical, forbidden realm of the painter’s studio began at a very young age during her visits to her grandmother’s, a renowned Israeli artist. The scent of turpentine, the thick textured palette, and the luscious hues of oil paint left an indelible impression on her memory.
At the age of 12, Ananda’s family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Midwest as a part of a unique community based on practices such as meditation, yoga, organic agriculture, and sustainable living.
Her unconventional education, rooted in eastern philosophy and spirituality, has led her to search for an intersection, a meeting point of form, beauty, and the mysteries of the esoteric and unknown. Her abstract paintings might remind one of feelings that haven’t coalesced into language, places long forgotten, of memories and dreams.
