Allison Miller’s work is loose and light, filled with layers and moments and satisfying depth. Walking the line between drawing and painting, Miller combines pattern, geometric abstraction, linear mark making and an easy formality. She seems to be able to effortlessly decide, reject, and redefine her surfaces and imagery, and it is this ease that becomes so compelling and fresh.
Her second solo show at ACME. Los Angeles, September 8 - October 20, 2007, featured several oil and acrylic paintings on canvas over wood panel. Her imagery remains intuitive but deliberate. The compositions have become more complex but maintain a doodle-like drawing and graphic impact.
