I saw these artists when they were a part of "Heroes for Autism" a fund raiser for "Autism Speaks" at the Avalon in Hollywood.
That was an extraordinary show and I can't wait to see what new works these artists have created since. I regretted not buying a piece by Casey Metcalfe then, so I am hoping it will be there.
This show is absolutely worth a visit. The work is both collectible and different from anything else out there. Not to mention it benefits an amazing cause. [more]

You showed some of these gorgeous watercolors before, Sam. I wanted one then, I want one now. I still can't afford them, or the fantastic video that went with them. Why do you torture me so? I'm a good person. I work hard. I really do think you should give me one of these because it will make my life so much better. [more]

All I can say is … WOW!!! Finally, a painter doing something more cutting edge. They are big; they are beautiful; impossible to get bored while scanning these works. And what the heck is going on in the corner? … Looks like a painting blending right into the wall – never seen that before, so in my book - a must see. She is definitely a true artist and not a one trick pony. Like any master painter, they can really mix it up…and she does a great job in doing so. If you are in LA... [more]

I went to India once. Saw the most extreme poverty and heart-wrenching crush of humanity I’ve ever experienced and I really have no desire to go back. Having said that, I did come away appreciating some weird intangibles about the place. The monkeys that would steal your stuff, the betel spit, the orgasm of color, the waves of people and beggars, the poop. Oh the poop. People crapping in the streets, wading in rivers of excrement to fill their water jugs, crapping on the roadside an... [more]

Abstractionists
Unite! Curated by Nancy Chaikin
at the Glendale College Art gallery, is a refreshing exhibition that provides
a purely pleasurable and visually enriching experience. The exquisitely
installed and thoughtful show of 13 artists successfully reveals the
thriving nature of contemporary abstraction. Diverse in origin, generation, and
gender, the artists' works in this show display a magnetic mixture of boldness
and restraint, poetry and prose, an attention to formal concerns and conc... [more]

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WAS PART OF "URBAN GRAVITATION"
A couple of weeks have passed since we had "URBAN GRAVITATION" Art & Music Show on Sunday July 12th, 2009. Our show consisted of 3 events in 3 separate spaces within one venue (THE GREEN TURTLE Whittier, CA). A gallery space, a patio with live graffiti artists, and the main bar with live bands and rappers on stage. Our theme "URBAN GRAVITATION" was inspired to bring in artworks and music that expressed some aspects of urban life. Becau... [more]

Flattened into digital printouts in glossy magazines or jpegs on the gallery’s website, Patrick Wilson’s paintings basically appear as slick, decorative corporate lobby art. They’d go perfectly over a Corbu couch with matching conference table. From a polite distance, you might fairly think their saturated color block abstractions and overlapping geometries were computer generated. Float one of each of the canvases many sharp-edged rectangular fields on a drifting digital track and they would make great screensavers.Which is to say, Wilso... [more]
