Hi, I contacted Askin Suzener on Artslant (had information in jobs) as he was interested in art for his gallery and this is the email I recieved. Is this a scam or legitimate? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you contacting artlimits.
Artlimits is a brand new gallery will be active both online and retail with a special focus on limited edition art prints. Before we launch artlimits, we are now connecting artists for collecting art to build up our portfolio.
With artlimits, art buyers will have the opportunity to find art and photography as archival pigment prints, printed on min. 12 colors ink-jet printers or other prints such as engraving, etching, screen print, lithograph. Prints other than the digital, will be displaying through our retail gallery. If the art work, lets say is a lithograph, we will also display the information, image on the web regarding the art work and the artist. Digitally printed editions will be sold both online and retail.
Art buyers could receive the art works with a certificate of authenticity, numbered and signed by the artist. So buyers will know by heart that this is a limited edition only and will not be available anymore when it is sold out.
How are we going to work with you?
It is simple; you will provide a digital copy of your art work (if you are working other than the digital media, the best is to use a professional scanner) and you will register at artlimits. While you register, you will submit images and related information of your work, too. We will decide together which art work we want to have at artlimits. Than we will do the calibrations before we display to sell your works. artlimits will be working artisan printers in Istanbul. When we do the necessary calibrations here, we will send the sample prints to you to get your confirmation. As soon as you confirm, we will be ready to print.
At artlimits, you will have an account and dashboard dedicated to you with the information you provided. You could be able to monitor the sales of your works. If your work is sold 3 pcs in the current month, you will see this in your dash board and artlimits will make the money transfer to you minimum 30 days after your work is sold. This is related to the bank and credit card system we are using. The bank blocks the buyers payment min. 30-40 days according consumer law in Turkey to protect the buyer rights than transfer the payment to our account. As soon as we receive payment from the bank, we will transfer it to you.
We split profits evenly with artist on net selling price minus production cost.
How would you know that you would receive the payment?
We are in contact with some of the internationally known audit companies such as PriceWaterhouseCoopers. So, artlimits will be audited periodically. We want to be transparent to the artists, so we can focus our business.
And of course during your registration, there will be a contract to accept for protecting the rights of your work.
I hope that this information will help you. You can also visit our website at www.artlimits.com and the password 012034.
Pls. remember that we are still under construction and this is only to give you an idea how will artlimits look like. There is also a collector FAQ part on the footer so it might help you how we area going to serve to the buyers and our commitments. We are still working on how to improve for the best we can deliver.
When we decided to make a start at artlimits, we research the competition world wide and found out a few good examples in US and in Europe. We analyzed these companies working conditions etc. and now we will be using the same format.
I would appreciate very much if you could let me know your feed back and the possible questions or ideas?
