"Bealtaine", a tiny gallery in the North Kerry village of Ballyduff, a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean, houses the unique work of local artist Bob Scott, who chose the title "Scenery of North Kerry" as the name for his collection, because it is a play on words which aptly describes his intentions. On the one hand there are paintings, lots of them, from very small to very large, which depict the "scenery" of North Kerry, using this word in its broadest sense, starting with landscape, but including the people, buildings and artefacts, and capturing the atmosphere of this remote and captivating area. On the other hand, the gallery is full of three dimensional constructons and "flats" (panels) stacked against the wall , as if for the "scenery" of a play, in which the cast are the viewer and the artist, and the "scene" is North Kerry. It is therefore an installation, as well as a working studio. If you are ever in County Kerry, Ireland, it is a place you wouldn't want to miss. Further information about, and pictures of, his gallery and paintings can be found on Bob's own website, www.bobscottballyduff.com, and on his "MySpace" pages at www.myspace.com/bobscottballyduff. On ArtSlant itself a much larger display of his work, (of which that shown here is only a sample), can be opened up by clicking on the ArtSlant link below. To arrange a visit to his studio/gallery email Bob on bobscottnorthkerry@gmail.com.
