DESCRIPTION

Welcome to Sanford Smith Fine Art/Jill Bokor Jewelry. The gallery, located in historic and scenic Great Barrington, MA has become a destination for visitors to the Berkshires. We hope that you’ll visit if you are in the area. We feature monthly art exhibitions spring, summer and fall and an ever-changing collection of contemporary jewelry. If you’re not in the area, this site will provide good examples of our fine art and fine and fashion jewelry.

Entering its seventh year, the gallery was founded by a noted art and antiques show producer and a long time publisher of art, antiques and design magazines. For over 30 years Sanford Smith has been a fixture in the art business producing The Fall Antiques Show, Modernism, Works on Paper and The Outsider Art Fair among others. Jill Bokor has been the publisher and editorial director of ART & AUCTION, I.D. Magazine, Architecture, and Interiors Magazines and was most recently the publisher of ART & ANTIQUES.

The gallery is directed and curated by Laura Reid, who holds a degree in Art History from Smith and was a longtime staff member at Art & Auction Magazine.

In our inventory are works by distinguished 20th century artists including George Bellows, Will Barnet, Judy Pfaff, Jacob Lawrence, Reginald Marsh and William Zorach. Recent shows have featured America’s foremost pastel artist Wolf Kahn, Vermont painter Peter Brooke, Boston artist Cheryl Warrick and the prints of Suzanne Caporeal. Increasingly, the gallery shows local and regional artists as well. One-person shows are held every month from May—September with group shows on view during the fall and spring.

Bokor seeks out new work from both American and international jewelry designers. Featured jewelry comes from local Berkshires and Hudson Valley designers. Metalsmiths from Texas, California, New York, Switzerland and Turkey are also showcased. The range is extensive. Fashionable pewter and vermeil pieces start at $90. Classic sterling and 18, 22 and 24-karat gold by internationally known designers Gurhan, Reinstein/Ross, Stephanie Albertson, Jordan Schlanger, Ray Griffiths and Sarah Graham are available in a wide range of prices. Many of the designers are happy to customize pieces for our clients.
