In its function as a gallery, Re:View Contemporary will exhibit a comprehensive range of contemporary art and design works by local and national artists, while upholding a deep commitment to quality. The gallery environment itself is populated by design elements especially created for the space by Detroit-based artists and designers.
Exhibiting artists will have an opportunity to discuss their work through gallery talks and interviews by Re:View's writer. Re:View's Web site and blog will become an extension of the physical gallery space, offering a forum for ongoing discussion of the works exhibited in the gallery, arts and cultural events in the community and more.
Utilizing the web to extend Re:View's presence and impact invites others to think again about the art presented in the gallery and in our community and to review their own relationship with the art that surrounds.
Future plans for Re:View include hosting workshops on art and writing in the hope of further broadening the community's opportunities for creative expression in a supportive environment.
In its multi layered approach, Re:View seeks to not only be a space to host quality contemporary art exhibits, but also to foster the social dialogue inspired by the arts and to challenge the community to think again—about art, about Detroit, about what inspires us.
