The Sherry Washington Gallery (SWG) opened in 1989 in downtown Detroit to provide museum quality art to private collectors, the corporate community, and national and local museums. SWG-represented artists, among the finest in the world, include SWG represents Benny Andrews, David Driskell, Richard Mayhew, David Fludd, Gilda Snowden, Chun Hui Pak, Shirley Woodson, as well as numerous other international and Michigan-based artists. SWG's offerings include: art consulting (including consultation on commission works of art and public art), framing consultation, art installation, art deinstallation and reinstallation, crating, transport and delivery, art appraisal, curating, and community art education and exposure to fine art.
Noteworthy among the SWG-managed projects is the United American Health Care collection which includes some of the most significant art created in the twentieth century. The gallery facilitated the publishing of the UAHC catalogue through Wayne State University. Ms. Washington serves as cultural consultant to Wayne County Community College District and has assisted with the cultural outreach efforts to ensure that the students are provided access to the great American cultural icons.
