    Santa Fe, Jul. 2014: Landscapes are solid, material, and stable masses. They are both a format of image and a type of content within an image that we register with familiarity, easily recognizable by the divisible line that categorizes land from sea, and terrain from sky. One part is always more ethereal than the other. The distinctive, and more concrete elements are part of our tangible purview, things we interact with, can touch. The formula of a landscape is a binary that depends on a complex foreground against a more atmospheric backdrop. The horizon line is essential in defining the term landscape.     ArtSlant Prize showcase series
    In the Showcase
    The ArtSlant Prize is a Showcase Series designed to exhibit and promote talented artists from around the world. The Showcase has six rounds per year, and in each round artists may enter one image and compete for different stages of winning status. The reviews include international gallerists, curators and other arts professionals. At the end of our yearly Showcase cycle, the top three winning artists receive an exhibition in a top art city or art fair, cash prizes, and the possiblity of having their work purchased for the ArtSlant Emerging Collection.

    The Georgia Fee Artist | Writer Residency in Paris, which was established in memory of ArtSlant's Founder, offers select artists and writers the opportunity to live and create work in Paris and to increase exposure of their work to an international audience. The Residency is open to visual artists of all mediums, art writers and critics, 24 years or older; recipients are chosen after a rigorous application and interview process.

    Each artist- or writer-in-residence maintains a blog where they can post works in progress, texts, and inspirations, giving us a glimpse of their process and their experiences in Paris.
