Yan Club Arts Center is pleased to open DEPTHS, a group exhibition featuring the work of three young artists. Each of these artists work within their own individual narratives that explore depth as a point of creative departure. Rao Songqing’s work expresses a deep examination of the inner self. The tones of gray utilized create a sense of boundless depth that brings a close look at the psychic reality of the characters. Ma Sibo depicts daily life in the style of a serene, quiet glance—the existence of an objective image contradicts the emotional traces of life. The hazy images add to the artist’s own subjectivity, and thus form the moments of the everyday into states of airy transcendence. Yue Yang’s work calls to mind an extended movie shot; scenes of vast clearing with a life of quiet solitude and drifting grief. It is a simple picture of tranquility, and of slow blowing wind. |
