FROM THE PRESS RELEASE:
The work in this exhibition explores the irony of personalized imagery in our manufactured culture. Julianna Dail's sculpture presents imagery from literary works as readymade concepts that parody truth, politics, and absurdities within contemporary life. Gary Kachadourian's exquisite drawings of everyday objects embellish materiality, yet satirize authenticity once they're photomechanically blown-up life size. Ron Longsdorf builds pink model homes presented atop readymade furniture that sarcastically question memory, relationships, and the use of materials as simple façade. Jackie Milad's drawings of curiously gesturing figures explore archetypes and authorship through visceral communication. The artwork presented in Rectified builds on the tradition of using readymade materials and concepts to reformulate our understanding of authenticity.
