« Remember Blow up. Something happened down the park, the camera's eye saw it and recorded it. In his lab, the photographer has to scrutinize the picture. Now, you can leave the English park. It is time for a scene change. You find yourself in another field, another shot. (...)

In the darkroom of the artist's workshop, project the picture. Slide between the image and its reflection. The drawings are enlargements. The hand starts to trace. It traces for hours. Tracing might be the right word ? The hand is tracing out, pursuing something, something underneath, just underneath the surface. Just under the skin of the paper. (...)

We could use the word «searching». From my readings of Intimate Stories from the Spanish Civil War, I drew  the Castilian word, hurgar, as in hurgar el pasado. It means searching and stirring as well as raking and poking the fire. Would this mean that the drawings of Eric Manigaud are scrutinizing, searching and poking ? Maybe because of a strange dark light ? »
