This juried exhibition of amateur photographs, all sharing sculpture as subject matter, has become an annual exhibition at Grounds For Sculpture. Focus on Sculpturepromotes sculpture as seen by members of the community through their photographs. Entries showcase a broad definition of sculpture, and photographers are encouraged to point their cameras towards the sculptural elements they see in their everyday lives. This year, 29 photographs were selected from 144 entries.
An additional layer of meaning was added to this year’s Focus on Sculpture, which is on display during the 350th Anniversary of the State of New Jersey. In honor of this milestone, all entries must be photographs of sculpture or sculptural elements taken in New Jersey. Location of each photograph (as provided by the artist) is listed in the exhibition.
Each year a different professional in the field of photography is invited to select the works for the exhibition from those submitted. A perfect fit for the 350th Anniversary of the State of New Jersey is this year’s juror, Walter Choroszewski, a New Jersey specialist for over thirty years. Walter’s photography of the state has been widely published in books, calendars and brochures, and his fine art prints and murals are displayed in many New Jersey corporate locations and private collections.
