Mushroom Arts, Inc., the non-profit art organization, is a nurturing nest for emerging artists and an experimental stand for their artistic spirits in New York. It holds the first curatorial exhibition oversea of Next I(s) Art project, “Over the rainbow”, from 6th to 23rd in November, 2008 at Yoo Art Space at Chungdam- dong in Seoul, Korea.
The exhibition comprises about sixty works from sixteen New York artists, and introduces their recent works in their own unique visual language with their contemporary perspectives characterized in their region of New York. A rainbow in the exhibition title symbolizes the broad spectrum of the multicultural society of New York and the vision of “The American Dream,” which is a common subject for the participating artists. With its multi-phased implications, the exhibition intends to give viewers opportunities to contemplate on over-all current social issues through the eyes of participating artists and their artistic endeavor in pursuit of new works in various media formats.
