> DESCRIPTION

Please join us at Redbud for an exhibition of German artists whose work was deemed publicly degenerate by the Nazi Government in the 1930's. The artists in this exhibit of paper works were prohibited to create works under the expressionist styles. Many like Max Beckmann and George Grosz fled to the US to teach at American schools. Some like Otto Dix remained in Germany to paint nice landscapes. Others died in death camps. Most of these artists had their works confiscated, sold, or destroyed. Many of the works in this show at Redbud were created by artists prior to the purge. Hitler had a personal interest and wrote many sentiments in the catalog accompanying the 1937 Degenerate exhibition held in Munich to record crowds. Most of these works will be for sale.
