> DESCRIPTION

The heart of an art museum is its collection—it is the source for gallery displays, temporary exhibitions, teaching, research, and publishing. This exhibition presents highlights of the works of art, from many generous donors, that have entered the museum's collection over the past two years. This is our first opportunity to reveal these works—ranging from an Uzbeki robe to an acrylic-on-paper painting by Sam Francis—some of which have never been publicly exhibited. The museum has more than 50,000 works of art in its care and growing the collection in a thoughtful, deliberate manner is always a priority.
