The spotlight will be on regional artists for Cairns’ Women in the Arts exhibition this year. States of Play: Contemporary Women in Regional Arts Practice opens at Canopy Artspace and c1907 Contemporary Artspace in the CBD from 8th March.
More than 20 artists from 10 different regions have been selected to participate in this year’s exhibition in celebration of International Women’s Day. Organisers, Knock Knock Contemporary Artists’ Initiative will showcase works from interstate alongside works from local artists.
In its 3rd year, Women in the Arts 2013 features a cross-venue visual arts exhibition; hands-on arts and craft demonstrations and a forum for local and visiting artists focussing on ‘Networking Regional Arts’.
The States of Play exhibition will feature painting, drawing, print-making, sculpture and installations from across Australia and will be on display at Canopy Artspace in Grafton St, while an exhibition of digital media and photographic works can be viewed around the corner at c1907 Contemporary Artspace in the City Place.
