This exhibition marks the largest presentation of the Los Angeles-based artist's work to date, and includes the never-before-seen video THE ASS AND THE LAP DOG as the centerpiece of the presentation. Also on display are sculptures created from everyday objects made strange, menacing, or abstract, as well as drawings that utilize cartooning and linguistic play. Dodge's primary mode is suggestion: the transmission and translation of information to the viewer, wherein an artwork hinges on the information exchanged between the two. Dodge pushes the limit not just of the medium of drawing, but also of what can be said, understood, perceived, and permitted. This exhibition is curated by Aldrich curatorial consultant Kelly Taxter.
