Sarah Hahn appropriates iconic classical sculptures from Antiquity and the Renaissance and replaces each god, hero, and saint with a contemporary celebrity. Her use of ceramic replaces the traditional marble and Cupid is substituted by the pop singer Justin Bieber. Hahn's work showcases the parallel between past and present cultures while also questioning the function and role of these cultural and religious figures within society. These "classical" sculptures exemplify the relationship between contemporary society's view of celebrity as god and the iconizing of these figures.
