GABRIEL BARREDO

Asphalt
Mixed media assemblage
Variable Size
2012

"Sound, light, and movement engulf the individual pieces in this armada of riveting forms. Vision lifts to the projected images in the background, caught by subtly flapping wings, further snared by mechanical rhythms; it finally descends to pitch ground of pedestals in a rhythmic web of stilts in gun metal finish."

Excerpt from Tableau Sublime by Tessa Maria Guazon

RONALD VENTURA

Various works
Variable Size
2012

"The artist takes an object, the ritual statuary bulol (bulul or bullul) of the Cordillera, away from its ethnic zone and places it elsewhere. That might be the intuition shaping the observer’s mind in the face of this assembly of works from Ronald Ventura. But the sight might prompt a rethinking, too, of the term ethnic, or for that matter, of authenticity, tradition, and originality in the context of the Philippine post-colony in global time."

Excerpt from The Imaginarium of Ronald Ventura by Patrick D. Flores

NORBERTO S. ROLDAN

Mula Noon Hanggang Ngayon
Mixed media assemblage
Variable Size
2012

"An aspect of Norberto Roldan’s practice has been to cull mementos that recall personal history and produce cultural memory. He collects objects and texts which he then catalogues, creating a sense of order. For this placement of objects, to us seemingly random, is in fact, ordered precisely to tug at a memory. Often a memory is wrung from many stories re-told. And we re-use the imagery from these past narratives again and again."

Excerpt from Within the space of a crate by Joselina Cruz
