Angus Fisher is a Sydney based artist working in a variety of media, specializing in copper plate etching. His practice incorporates traditional printmaking including lino and woodcutting, and he also works in pen and ink, graphite, pencil and paint. His current work is primarily focused on the natural world celebrating the diversity of subjects this presents. While alluding to both the ecology and fragility of the natural world while strongly referencing natural history illustration from a past age, Fisher aims to provoke the somewhat lost ideas of the mysterious beauty that once surrounded the many inhabitants of the natural world. He has been the recent recipient of the National Art School Aboriginal Arts Centre 2011 Internship award, The Paper Plane - Paper Mill Gallery graduate Emerging Talent 2010 Exhibition Award, and the 2010 Derivan Printmaking Award.
