FYC: For your consideration is the latest chapter of the annual National Art School Award Exhibition hosted by Australian Galleries. This year we are pleased to present four graduate printmakers: Jacqueline Maureira, Cecilia Jackson, Aidan Jansen and Lea Olea.
By exploring the process and medium of printmaking throughout their studies each artist has emerged with a fresh and unique practice. Maureira’s gestural etchings express the sensory experience of music, while Jackson defines her angle grinder drypoints as ‘pseudoscientific’, a visual inquiry into kinetic forces. As an avid traveler Olea’s work showcases a visual reaction to the experiences that she encountered while driving through the Californian landscape. A passion for woodblock printing radiates from Jansen’s works, these striking portraits test our reaction to being within the intimate field of the stranger.
