Every museum wants to make a cultural contribution to the community in which it resides. In this respect, both the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and the Chrysler Museum share the same goals. As both institutions have moved towards fulfilling their goals, we have had the opportunity to work with each other and many of the same artists.
As the Chrysler Museum undergoes an immense physical transformation and expansion, MOCA has taken the opportunity to visually explore the relationship between the two museums. As part of our mission to stimulate critical thinking and dialogue throughout the community, we are presenting a sample of works from artists that MOCA has exhibited in the past and the Chrysler currently has in its collection. The result is a visual representation of the two museums’ common ground.
