> DESCRIPTION

The works for this exhibition were inspired by ceramic/clay elements produced by the children of Silsal’s Ruwwad community project. Initially when I saw them I could not visualize a creation.
Gradually looking at all the imperfections of the shapes ideas started to roll in….involving painting on them and staging displays of them for photography and manipulation.
“Very basic in nature to me” was th

e actual beauty that led to phase two. To create decorative and functional art pieces.
The lamp displayed on a mirror surrounded by the painted clay pieces reminded me of a UTOPIAN rockscape.
The back lit film on gelatin sheets gave me the opportunity to exaggerate the details of the terracotta like pieces but with a twist. Giving an almost polarized version of the clay objects. This triptych can be displayed in various ways according to the viewer’s imagination.
