Back to the Future is a very unique section designed to bring to the attention of artworld professionals, collectors, and the general public artists who play an important role in the history of contemporary art or whose work influences artists today and that yet have not always had the attention or visibility they deserve.
Midway between a museum-quality exhibition project and art-fair participation, the section devotes a special area to a number of art galleries under presentation of a project for a solo exhibition of “historical” works by an artist who was active in the 1960s and ’70s.
The 2012 Committee, consisting of renowned international curators Jan Hoet, Vasif Kortun, Joanna Mytkowska and Vicente Todolí, has selected 19 artists and their galleries.
Back to the Future will offer the opportunity to gain greater understanding of some of modernity’s innovators right in fair focusing on the latest experiments in contemporary art.
