Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA)

This exhibition will present drawings and paintings by Irish born internationally-renowned artist Sean Scully. For over a quarter of a century, Scully has developed and refined his own instantly recognisable style of geometric abstraction. His paintings typically involve tough architectural constructions of abutting walls and panels of densely and lushly painted stripes. This exhibition is taken from two distinct series, the Change and Horizontals drawings, and highlights the importance of colour and form within Scully’s work. This exhibition is co-curated by Brett Littman and Joanna Kleinberg, The Drawing Center, New York.
