STUDIO 371 sponsored by Stephanie Panepinto presents “Arc-Types and Well-Rounded Characters” a group exhibition of artwork based on the circle and its component, the arc.  This exhibition demonstrates the ways in which this simple formal element is interpreted by the participating artists.  Using the circle as a unifying element, artists address a wide spectrum of subject matter including the mathematical, astronomical, environmental, architectural and spatial.  Other artists use the circle as a visual representation of sound, personal experience or data mapping.  Some of the included artists muse on the circle as pure form.  Overall, the exhibition demonstrates how a simple shape can be charged with unlimited symbolic and artistic potential.

Featured artists include Gianluca Bianchino, Dianne Bowen, Magenta del Ray, Giovanna Cecchetti, Dahlia Elsayed, Vandana Jain, Ahni Kruger, Betty McGeehan, Ryan Roa, Lauren Smith,

Travis LeRoy Southworth and Injoo Whang.  The theme was developed by curator Jeanne Brasile as an investigation into a highly culturally charged symbol with seemingly inexhaustible implications.  Each of the artists addresses a distinctive subject within the narrative of the circle.

Founded in 2011, STUDIO 371 is the brainchild of Stephanie Panepinto.  The space functions as a multi-use project space to present art exhibitions, film screenings and theatrical performances. To make STUDIO 371 a destination spot for artists and gallery-goers, Panepinto has brought on Kara Rooney as co-director and curator.  STUDIO 371 is located at 371 Warren Street – 4th floor in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Gallery hours are by appointment .  Directions:  From Grove Street PATH Station –Walk east on Christopher Columbus Blvd, turn left on Warren Street, turn left on First Street, entrance on corner For more information contact Stephanie Panepinto at stephanie@stephaniepanepinto.com
