THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST
Rarely can we watch and enjoy paintings as suggestive as those shown by the German artist Oliver Kornblum in his upcoming exhibition in the gallery Art & Design in Barcelona.
With a solid academic background, Oliver has over time found a precise and refined language, that serves him to give a personal and unique vision of the themes that fascinate him most.
After starting in Hamburg as a plain-air painter, like the impressionist masters, his work was moving towards marine paintings. The sea, sailing, racing ...
The joy that emanates from these works in which light, wind and sea become poetry in its purest form, is his personal journey to Ithaca, a painter who nourishes on light and on the air he breathes.
For Oliver Kornblum is basically a lonely sailor who sailed the seas of the five continents to discover the essence of being human.
If during the past fifteen years Oliver focused mostly on painting the sea as his main theme, his current work is moving ever closer to the person, the individual alone, lost in the crowd, leaving the landscapes to an absolute second-place.
Oliver Kornblum spent the last seven years living between Barcelona and Hamburg. The Mediterranean light is present in his current work, but there is also a deep reflection on life in major cities. The overcrowding, the trivialization, and most importantly, the emptiness that surrounds us.
We are therefore facing a unique contemporary art work in which tradition and modernity coexist in harmony, achieving the necessary balance between beauty and misery, between banality and poetry.
But above all, the current work of Oliver Kornblum gives us the opportunity to enjoy deep emotions that no poet could express with words.
If beauty and poetry are also important in your life, do not miss this exhibition. Take your time and allow yourself to experiment sensations which (and I have the obligation to warn you) are addictive.
