Six Summit Gallery, one of  New England's most diverse art gallery presents "Juxtaposed."  Internationally renown New York Academy of Art and former  Lyme Academy Professor Alyssa Monks has chosen 31 artists and sculptors from all over America for "Juxtaposed".

We live in an age of compartmentalization and labels to define ourselves and our art. Abstract?  Representational?  Photo-realism?  What better way to convey an idea, than to juxtapose it with its polar opposite?  One side cannot exist without the other.  Volume can be disrupted by line.  Light is only  bright when there is shadow.  Red makes green vibrate.  Oil makes a wet object look more wet.  Everything is in fluid contradiction, symbiotically creating its opposite simply by its own existence.  The artists in this exhibition have used this idea philosophically, technically, metaphorically, and literally to create art that resonates beyond the confines of its own label, medium, or genre.  What is your contradiction?

We are proud to host staff, patrons, students and fans of Hartford's own Covenant Preparatory School!  Covenant Prep ( is an independent, tuition-free middle school for boys from under-served families in the City of Hartford.  The school provides a challenging and supportive learning environment, where motivated students of all faiths are offered an intellectual, cultural, physical and moral education.
