‘unNatural Order’ is an installation exhibition by Aneta Bozic, Dominique Dunstan, Cristy Gilbert at 69 Smith Street Gallery in Fitzroy. Bought together, across state borders, by their interest in the resilience of nature, their individual and collaborative works will continue to grow and change throughout the life of the show.
‘”In the footsteps of the great naturalists.” says Dominique Dunstan, “we attempt to forge an understanding of the rapidly evolving Anthropocene epoch – as it is and as it may be.”
Aneta Bozic explores the notion of the hybrid, blurring the compositional boundaries of animal, vegetable and mineral. Dominique Dunstan uses documentation as a way of drawing, recording what was once natural now become curious and unusual, in suburban settings. Cristy Gilbert constructs fragile structures from natural remains, wound and bound in arabesques describing the forces of water, flight & growth. Sandra Winkworth creates small & large works, studies of colour and gesture that capture the elusive nature of her subjects.
