> DESCRIPTION

Beyond Black presents the impressive artistic careers of Ed Clark, Eugene Martin and John T. Scott, three modern African-American artists who rose to the challenge of abstract art. Though often overlooked in their time, their perseverance and their varied creations have made a vibrant mark on American art.

The LSU Museum of Art is proud to partner with the New Orleans African American Museum in Treme on programming and events to complement the exhibition, and as a venue with additional works on display by Eugene Martin, and with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities in New Orleans, a venue with additional works on display by John T. Scott.

Beyond Black is made possible with the generous support of AT&T Louisiana and Charles Schwing.
