Gallery Project presents Warp, a multimedia exhibit in which 30 local, regional and national artists engage in close observation of the interconnectivity of social, political, technological or natural systems and the intricacies these networks create.
The exhibit opens on Wednesday, December 1 and runs through Sunday, January 9. The opening reception is Friday, December 3 from 6-9.
Artists pondering the inconceivable notion of complexity and interconnectivity often break ground in the realm of materials and methods, the utilization of combinations, proportions and color. They can be found sojourning in unfamiliar realms, painters building, builders knitting, singers acting, and creating in unmapped territories. Unpredictable combinations born of spontaneity or accidental experience fall outside age-old archetypes and suddenly there is, fascination, complexity and coming face to face with the sublimity of life.
In this exhibition, weaving acts as a metaphor for cultural complexity; many, often fragile, autonomous parts coming together to create a resilient whole.
