Exhibition Description:

Stained Glass Mixed Media Sculpture. A series of free standing columns with heads will explore the relationship between the human faceand how we percieve it according to color, shape, hairstyle, jewelry, and all the other various ways we decorate or distort ourselves.

Artist Statement:

I am an artist currently working in stained glass and mosaics, but certainly not limited to any form of creativity. The world around me inspires and posesquestions every day. I see beauty all around, the way I spend my time best is to stay open to what I am feeling and to work with my hands and body whether that be with glass, metal, clay, paints, or even growing a garden.

Artist Bio:

Mixed Media Artist living in Opelousas, La.,I have explored many different art forms, I went to U.S.L. for ceramics in the early 80's. I also have dabbled in metalwork, printmaking, and still paint from time to time. I took a stained glass workshop about 10 years ago and have been working with glass ever since. My work has been described as contemporary as I do not usually stick to the traditional style of working with only lead and glass. I like the process of getting to the end result of my vision by using found objects, bits of things and color to change the path thatI started on. I am a full-time working artist and do several arts markets and festivals throughout the year in the Lafayette area, New Orleans, and Austin. I have been a member and on the board of the Louisana Crafts Guild for the last 7 years.
